First G.fast DPU Fully Interoperable with Both ALU and Huawei GPON OLTs Announced by Telnet Redes Inteligentes SA


New DPU is Also First G.fast Solution to Support WDM-PON


March 16, 2015, ZARAGOZA, SPAIN − Award-winning fiber optic equipment manufacturer, TELNET Redes Inteligentes SA today announced the Hybrid Fiber-Copper Access Distribution Point (HFCA-DP), the first G.fast distribution point tailored to be fully interoperable with Alcatel Lucent (ALU) and Huawei GPON OLTs. Companies like Telefonica, a Telnet GPON customer, are among the nearly 60% of OLT users that can benefit from the new Telnet product.


Telnet´s HFCA-DP product is also compatible with higher capacity G.fast optical backhaul architectures based on wavelength division multiplexing passive optical networks (WDM-PON). This WDM-PON variant of Telnet´s HFCA-DP product allows for the aggregation in the central office of typically up to 40 different optical wavelengths overlaid to GPON optical channels on the same power splitter based optical distribution networks, thus reutilizing current FTTH-GPON deployments. Each (or several) of these optical channels can be dedicated to a single HFCA-DP equipment, thus increasing the overall backhaul capacity of a G.fast node. The current WDM-PON version of the Telnet´s HFCA-DP product comes with 32 optical wavelengths (C-band) all of them carrying Gigabit Ethernet electrical traffic, but it is easily upgradable to higher electrical traffic bit rates (e. g. 2.5Gbit/s or 10 Gbit Ethernet).


The HFCA-DP supports 16 concurrent G.fast subscribers and provides unparalleled G.fast functionality from Sckipio Technologies. The product also includes Telnet’s complete ONT OMCI stack, ITU-T G.984.4, G.984.3 and G.984.2, and complete VLAN tagging (802.1p & QinQ), enabling it to support the BBF TR-156 recommendation. The HFCA-DP features a high-performance data path capable of supporting 3.75Gbps and up to 16 subscribers per DPU.
