OVERVIEW

DPU House

One of the most common use-cases for Gfast is in the basement of apartment buildings. In this scenario, MDU owners can offer true gigabit services without the complexities and inconvenience of large construction projects and expensive deployment of fiber to each apartment.

In this scenario, fiber is brought to the basement or side of the building and connected to either pizza-box rack-mounted units or sealed boxes. The number of residences supported can vary from 8 ports on the low-end to 96 ports on the high end. In this environment these devices may be locally powered or may require reverse power feed – depending on the exact location used. In addition, at this distance, there are benefits for using bonded Gfast to deliver very high speeds.

BENEFITS OF USING SCKIPIO

TRUE GIGABIT TO THE MOST SUBSCRIBERS

The Sckipio 23000 chipset family supports the highest port density using on-chip, internal vectoring. The solution can support up to 96 ports using the 212a band plan. This will deliver the highest possible performance to the largest number of subscribers and will be able to achieve up to 1Gbps at 96 ports.

PREMIUM RATES THROUGH 212A BONDING

Not only does the Sckipio solution support 212Mhz on a single pair, Sckipio can support 212a bonding, which can deliver up to 1.5Gbps of download and 500Mbps of upstream – even at 100 meters or even higher when combined with DTA.

BREAKTHROUGH SERVICE OFFERINGS THROUGH CDTA

Only Sckipio provides coordinated dynamic time assignment (cDTA) to deliver the same speed for upload as well as download over high crosstalk environments such as twisted pair. This allows operators to deliver symmetric-like performance and improve the perceived rates for a given aggregate capacity.

MOST SCALABLE

Sckipio is the only company to support cross-DPU vectoring – the ability to connect additional DPUs together to increase port counts – without getting locked into a single source chassis. As one DPU reaches 100% take rate, simply add another DPU and create a larger vector group.

SMALLEST OPEX

One benefit of cross-DPU vectoring is a single DPU SKU can be used to support multiple configurations. For example, one SKU that supports 8 ports can be combined to create a 16-port solution, a 24-port solution or even a 12-port full bonded solution. Typical configurations include 8-16-24, 16-24-48, 24-48-72, and 48-96 in single pair modes.
